Did you know that Wales could be about to do something amazing for people and wildlife? The Welsh Government is about to bring in a new law – the Wellbeing of Future Generations Bill, which could make life better for people and wildlife in Wales and all over the world.

The Welsh Wish story

The Welsh Government is about to bring in a new law – the Wellbeing of Future Generations Bill.

If it gets this law right, it will be fantastic!

It could help us tackle climate change and protect our precious forests and oceans, making life better for people all over the world as well as in Wales.

WWF Cymru is part of a community of more than 20 Welsh charities, social enterprises and community groups whose work supports people and nature to thrive. We’ve come together to share a vision of a bright future for Wales. We speak with one voice about why the Well-being of Future Generations is so important and how it can help future generations of our families lead healthy, happy and safe lives.

So how does Welsh Wish fit in?

The story began in March 2014, as part of Earth Hour— our annual ‘lights out’ event, when people around the world show their support for our brilliant planet.

We realised that this was a great opportunity. We wanted to show politicians that we need this law to work and make a real difference to the world we love. What better way to do this than inviting supporters of Earth Hour to take part?

Welsh Wish was born. We set up a website and invited you to make a ‘wish’ for a ‘One Planet Wales’ – a country where we use our fair share of the Earth’s resources.

It was a great success! Over a thousand wishes in less than a month, and support from the likes of Michael Sheen and members of the Wales rugby squad.

But the story doesn’t end there. We need to tell the decision makers that we care about a future where we live in harmony with nature.

So share you photos, share your stories. Make a Welsh Wish and let’s make this dream come true.

And by the way, plenty of others feel the same ... click here to find out more.
